News report on the signing of a procurement contract between the University of Science and Technology Beijing and Aerospace Engineering Equipment (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. for China's first engineered Additive Friction Stir Deposition (AFSD) composite equipment.

In February 2024, the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) signed a procurement contract with Aerospace Engineering Equipment (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. (AEE) for an “Additive Friction Stir Deposition (AFSD) Composite Equipment.” This marks the first time Beijing University of Science and Technology has introduced Additive Friction Stir Deposition (AFSD) composite intelligent equipment and technology, and it is also China's first engineered Additive Friction Stir Deposition (AFSD) device. Since the “Additive Friction Stir Deposition (AFSD) Equipment” debuted at Essen in June 2023, Aerospace Engineering Equipment (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. has actively incorporated valuable feedback from industry experts. Collaborating with the Institute for the Development and Quality, Macau (IDQ), the company has continuously refined and upgraded the equipment.

The University of Science and Technology Beijing is a nationally key university directly under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. It is a “Double First-Class” university, a national “Project 211” institution, and a member of the “Project 985 Innovation Platform for Discipline Excellence.” Known as the “Cradle of Steel,” it stands as one of China's most representative universities in the field of metallurgical materials.

The Additive Friction Stir Deposition (AFSD) composite equipment, jointly developed by AEE and IDQ, enables Friction Stir Welding (FSW), Friction Overlay Welding, and Solid-state Additive Manufacturing for various metallic materials. It simultaneously provides real-time high-frequency monitoring of temperature, torque, and pressure during manufacturing, meeting diverse research demands related to solid-state processing technologies for multiple materials. AEE will uphold the spirit of aerospace innovation, striving to provide cost-effective equipment and comprehensive technical support to universities and research institutions across China, continuously advancing the progress of solid-state processing technology in our nation.
