Institute for the Development and Quality, Macau (IDQ), founded in 1997, is a public capital non-profit organization of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR). Presently, it has 150 employees and is located in Taipa, Macao. The founding mission of IDQ is closely collaborated with the development of Macao SAR by providing comprehensive services in research, testing, training and quality control of projects related to electromechanical engineering, fire engineering, environmental engineering and digital operation and maintenance engineering. IDQ is composed of seven members, namely Municipal Affairs Bureau of Macao SAR, Macao Foundation, University of Macau, Macao Polytechnic University, Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center, Civil Engineering Laboratory of Macau and Instituto de Soldadura e Qualidade (Welding and Quality Institute). IDQ has long been committed to serving engineering projects of Macao SAR. It has formulated the Macao SAR electromechanical engineering quality control manual, providing a basis for ensuring the design quality of large-scale infrastructure projects undertaken by the government; IDQ has been entrusted by the government to conduct failure analysis and technical evaluations for several major projects; IDQ has established four CNAS-accredited laboratories specializing in welding non-destructive testing, environmental engineering, elevator equipment and fire testing, with 210 domestic and international certified testing items, providing continuous testing services for Macau and the Greater Bay Area.
