On August 29, 2024, Li Xin, Vice President of the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology, led a delegation to conduct a research visit at Aerospace Engineering Equipment (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. (AEE). Accompanying the visit were Chen Changgan, Deputy Director of the Industrial Development Department at the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology; Liao Jiayin, Director of the Industrial Development Department; and Li Mengyu, Deputy General Manager of Shanghai Aerospace Equipment Manufacturing General Factory Co., Ltd.

Under the warm hospitality of AEE Chairman Zhang Xinyun and General Manager Yang Guoshun, Li Xin and his delegation visited the production frontlines. They conducted an on-site inspection of the research, development, and manufacturing facilities for Additive Friction Stir Deposition (AFSD) equipment, observing the processing procedures and finished products of the AFSD machinery.

Additive Friction Stir Deposition (AFSD) was jointly developed by AEE and the Institute for the Development and Quality, Macau (IDQ). As a branch of AFSD manufacturing technology, this technique has gained prominence in the manufacturing industry due to its unique advantages. It employs a composite process combining friction, extrusion, and friction stirring to achieve micro-forging of materials, representing an evolution and extension of Friction Stir Welding (FSW). This technology offers advantages such as no melting, high deposition efficiency, and superior performance. It significantly enhances processing efficiency and material utilization while ensuring product mechanical properties and precision. It demonstrates distinct advantages in the efficient manufacturing of large structural components.

Li Xin and his delegation highly commended AEE's groundbreaking achievements in the field of Additive Friction Stir Deposition (AFSD), noting that these innovations not only solidify AEE's leading position within the industry but also lay a solid foundation for the market promotion and application of Additive Friction Stir Deposition (AFSD).
