In-situ Monitoring of HSK Tool Holder Cutting Process

Based on aluminum alloy end milling tests, using a 10 mm three-flute end mill

The machine device is the JDMR600 five-axis machining center from Beijing Jingdiao Group Co., Ltd.

Analysis of the average data indicates that during machining, F is approximately 0.089 kN, the M is around 4.569 Nm, and bending moments are approximately 8.228 Nm and 2.666 Nm, respectively. The planar projections of the two bending moments reveal the three-flute characteristics of the milling cutter. The corresponding cutting edge features exhibit uniform distribution, indicating no wear on the cutter. This aligns with the actual condition of using a new milling cutter.

The three-axis vibration signals (XYZ) exhibited slight fluctuations, reflecting the inherently weak vibrations detected relative to the actual machining contact conditions. Since no tool wear, breakage, or collisions occurred during machining, the absence of significant vibration signals is reasonable. Furthermore, the temperature monitored during machining corresponds to the cabin ambient temperature. Results indicate a decrease from 25.8°C to approximately 25.0°C, attributed to the real-time application of coolant during machining, which slightly lowered the temperature.
